For Women Who Won't Be Shaved Down

My latest WIP - a therapeutic collage is drying in my studio (see pic above) raw papers, images torn from prints of my art, new layers finding their shape.  Love the mess and beauty of what happens when we stop trying to be neat and perfect!

And in the spirit of the unapologetic, the unruly, and the unshaved — I want to invite you to sit with me for a few minutes and watch my video (below) of me reading from my latest book: Perfectly Coiffed Pubes.  This piece is called:  "No one will die if you tell your truth".

Perfectly Coiffed Pubes is not polite!  It's here to shake up the patriarchy that runs deep in your veins.

This book is a blade, a howl, and a love letter to the parts of you that were told to hush, cross your legs, be a good girl, be hairless, be manageable. I don't apologise for what this book stirs.  I'm here to remind you of many things!!! including... "No One Will Die If You Speak Your Truth".

I was told, as a child, that "if I told" - my beloved Grandmother would die.  That was a lie to manipulate and control little me and I completely believed him.  No one actually did die when I shared my truth.  Eventually I went to the police and now I speak freely in the world.  And his 'lies'?  They were shattered to bits.

So, I wrote this book for the woman who has been silenced, shaved down, told she was "Too Much" or "Not Good Enough."  Pretty much, covers every female walking our planet.  

It's a torch for the bits that rage in the night — the mother wound, the marriage bed, kitchen sink, bright, white clinics that lie about your womb and once upon a time cut out your clitoris without anaesthetic or consent.  YES... it's all in the book and true.

You've already survived the worse. You don't need me to protect you from your own story.  I trust your strength.  I trust your howl.  I trust the sacred mess you'll make when you stop pretending you were ever broken.
