Counselling
You’ve spent long enough putting yourself last
Counselling for Extraordinary Women
Many of the women who find me are highly capable.
They are therapists, teachers, nurses, leaders, business owners, artists, carers and professionals.
From the outside, they often look as though they are coping.
From the inside, they may feel exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves or quietly aware that they have lost something important along the way.
Some have experienced trauma.
Some are living with the impact of difficult childhoods or relationships.
Some have spent years putting everyone else first.
Many have had counselling before. They understand themselves well, yet still feel that something deeper has never quite shifted.
This is where my work begins.
For nearly three decades I have accompanied women through some of the most difficult and important times of their lives.
Therapy with me is much more than talking for an hour.
I offer a carefully held therapeutic relationship where you can gradually stop performing, stop holding everything together and begin to understand yourself in a different way.
Together we make sense of what has happened to you.
We explore the patterns that keep repeating.
We notice what your body has been carrying.
We gently uncover the ways you have adapted in order to survive.
Most importantly, we create the conditions where more of who you truly are can begin to emerge.
Every woman is different, so I do not follow a rigid programme.
Some sessions are entirely conversation.
Sometimes we write.
Sometimes we use creative or experiential approaches when words alone are not enough.
Everything we do is chosen because it fits you, your story and where you are in your life.
They describe feeling safe enough to say things they have never said before.
They begin to reconnect with parts of themselves they thought had disappeared.
My work is not about fixing you.
I don't believe you are broken.
I believe that many extraordinary women have spent years adapting to survive, carrying responsibilities that were never truly theirs, and gradually losing touch with themselves in the process.
Therapy becomes a place where you no longer have to do that.
A place where you can think, feel, question, grieve, laugh, cry, heal and grow.
A place where you can become more fully yourself.
This is thoughtful, in-depth counselling.
It is not a quick fix.
Real change takes time.
But when the right relationship and the right conditions come together, lasting change becomes possible.
I work best with women who are ready to be curious about themselves and willing to engage honestly with the process.
Sessions available:
60 mins @ £90 or 90 mins @ £135
They are available in person in Gretna, Dumfries and Galloway, or online via Zoom worldwide.
If, as you've been reading this, something inside you has quietly thought, "This sounds like me," I'd be very happy to hear from you.

Living Research
Alongside my therapeutic work, I am engaged in an ongoing programme of Living Research.
Rather than beginning with theories and trying to fit women into them, my research grows from nearly three decades of therapeutic practice, careful observation and the lived experiences of the women I accompany.
Over time, recurring patterns, understandings and questions are gathered, explored and developed into research papers and foundational statements that continue to shape and deepen my work.
This research is not separate from my counselling.
It grows directly from it.
