The Tree of Life Process
This is a ten-week, practitioner-only, embodied and experiential journey for counsellors, therapists and coaches who value depth, personal process and lived change as much as theory and technique.
This offering is for practitioners who know that meaningful growth does not happen solely through thinking, analysing or acquiring new models, but through experience, expression, embodiment and relationship with what emerges beneath the surface.
It is for those who are willing to step into their own process rather than remaining only in the role of helper, teacher or expert.
You are not asked to change, abandon or replace your existing modality or theoretical orientation. Whatever framework or approach you already work within is respected and welcomed. This process sits alongside your professional identity, enriching it through lived experience rather than prescribing a new way of working.
This is not a training in techniques to be copied or replicated. It is an experiential process entered for yourself, where learning happens through participation, reflection, witnessing and integration.
Any insights that later inform your professional work arise organically through lived experience, not instruction.

Professional Background
The Tree of Life Process reflects this integration — combining psychological depth, embodied awareness, creative process and relational safety.
The Tree of Life Process unfolds over ten weeks at a steady, humane pace.
We begin with an orientation and materials-gathering week, allowing time to settle into the group, prepare resources, and establish confidentiality, consent and shared responsibility for the container. This ensures that no one feels rushed, pressured, or “behind” before the work begins.
Although the Tree of Life Process unfolds over ten weeks, it is held in a flexible and humane way. There are no live sessions to attend, and the process is self-paced within the ten-week container. Weekly invitations are released gradually, and you are welcome to engage with them in your own time.
The group space remains open throughout the full ten weeks, offering a place to share, reflect, witness and connect with others as and when you choose. It is completely acceptable to begin later, to pause for a week, or to work at a rhythm that fits around life, health, holidays or other commitments.
The intention is not to keep up or stay on track, but to allow the process to unfold in a way that is sustainable, responsive and respectful of real lives.
From there, the process moves gradually through the Tree of Life itself. We explore beginnings and background, roots, trunk and branches, before entering the territory of hopes and dreams. Time is intentionally allowed for deepening, repetition and revisiting where needed. Some stages unfold over more than one week, recognising that embodied work does not move in straight lines.
The work is guided through invitation rather than demonstration. You will not be shown what to make or how it should look. Instead, you are invited to work intuitively with mixed media, mark-making, collage and other expressive forms, allowing your own unconscious and embodied knowing to lead. Attention is given not only to what is created, but to how it feels to create it – including inner critic, hesitation, resistance, ease, curiosity and pleasure.
Space is held within the process for grief, loss and the reclaiming of what has been interrupted, denied or postponed, alongside strengthening, resourcing and integration. You are supported to return to any part of the Tree of Life that needs further attention, adjustment or care as the process unfolds.
The closing phase of the work is held consciously and respectfully. Time is given for integration, witnessing and reflection, allowing you to put words to what has shifted, what has been learned, what was loved, what was difficult, and how the journey continues beyond the group. The process ends with acknowledgement and celebration of the Tree of Life you have created and the relationship you have developed with it.
The Tree of Life Process was developed through years of in-person group work beginning in 2008, and thoughtfully adapted for online delivery in 2016.
This process is open only to qualified counsellors, therapists and coaches who hold their own professional body membership, ethical framework, insurance and supervision. It is not suitable for trainees or for those seeking a general personal development course.
The Tree of Life Process runs over ten weeks and is offered at a fee of £695.
The next cohort is planned to begin on 1 March 2026. Group numbers are intentionally kept small to protect depth, containment and relational presence.
Future Pathways with The Tree of Life Process
For some practitioners, completing the Tree of Life Process can open into a further professional pathway. There will be an opportunity to undertake advanced practitioner training to learn how to offer the Tree Process within your own professional work whether via group facilitation or within 1:1 Practice.
There is no expectation or requirement to take this further step; the ten-week process stands fully in its own right.
