How are you? I've been rather unwell with an infection. Not nice and being an impatient Patient it's been tough! I just want to do things and make things and read and go in the woods but my Body said 'NO!!' further more it said, 'I am removing your energy until you have rested enough to heal and then you could do something small... OK?' I just nodded as that is all I could muster up :-)
My Beloved has taken good care of me. There was a time when we both had deeply rooted 'Be Strong' Drivers and would never have even admitted we were ill and just kept going. Very Responsible, Hard Working personalities have a tendency to do this stuff. Do you do this stuff? One of the signs that you have this kind of way of being is that when you finally go on holiday you catch something, or you hurt your back... then your holiday is ruined!
Today I feel lots better and I wanted to share a video with you to Show you how I teach how we can use paint and colour to express our feelings and emotions and how this can not only develop self awareness but most importantly it leads to Self Regulation and this is vital for our Well Being and Stress levels.
I had had a very tough few days leading up to making this video. I wasn't sure how I felt, I couldn't find words to express my Feelings I just knew I didn't feel great and had had a really tough few days. People were pushing my buttons from all angles and there was a moment where I could have slid back in to old ways of functioning - old, out dated, unhelpful ways or I could stay true to me and push onward and upward which brought about displeasure in the others but it was the very best thing for me - for my Self Esteem and for my personal growth... phew! Tough times indeed!
As you watch the video you will see what happens and how I find a way to express, self soothe, self regulate and find words all of which lead me to feel much better and more grounded. What a relief!
Many of us don't know how to Feel Feelings or what to do with our Feelings when we have them. We may have been taught to deny or ignore our Feelings as if they were 'bad' and to be avoided at all costs. We may use chocolate, alcohol, drugs, anything... other than feel our feelings... However research is teaching us that it is vital to Feel our Feelings and to find ways to name them and accept them as this leads to a much more Regulated and Soothed place within.
